Mountain’s Edge Events in 2012

Event: Nathaniel Jones Park Grand Opening
Date: Spring 2012

Celebrate with us as we formally open this great new neighborhood park. More information about this event is coming soon.

Event: Country in the Park
Date: Saturday, May 12, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Country in the Park is a fun, western-themed event which will return to Mountain’s Edge this Spring for its sixth year. Last year, more than 4,000 people attended Country in the Park. The fun-filled event is again expected to feature country music stars and local bands, plus a Beer Garden, food vendors and children’s play area and activities.

Event: Candlelighters 5K Walk and Fun Run
Date: Saturday, September 8, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada’s annual 5K Fun Walk/Run is based at Exploration Park with the race course winding throughout Mountain’s Edge. The event raises money to benefit children and families with childhood cancer and attracts several thousand participants each year. More than $120,000 was raised last year. In addition to the race and walk, the event includes food and refreshments, t-shirts, raffle drawings and prizes, an awards ceremony and exhibitor booths. Event: American Heart Association Heart Walk
Date: Saturday, October 13, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the 2012 Heart Walk, a fundraising event for the American Heart Association that raised more than $285,000 last year. Teams of families and companies in Las Vegas will collect donations and participate in the annual 5K race and walk that winds through Mountain’s Edge. A significant portion of the proceeds fund biomedical research and education programs, and further the outreach efforts of the American Heart Association in Nevada. The event includes food and refreshments, t-shirts, raffle drawings and prizes, children’s activities and an awards ceremony. For more information, visit: www.lasvegasheartwalk.org.

Four-legged friends go for a ride during the 2011 Family, Fur & Fun Festival.

Event: The 4th Annual Family, Fur & Fun Festival
Date: Saturday, October 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This festival by the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) is focused on humane education and fun for the entire family. Admission is free and friendly, leashed pets are welcome. There will be a variety of educational, interactive and service booths for attendees and four-legged friends.
